C-47 (Connell) Deductive Change Order #1 for Orange Park Junior High School Gym Roof-Over

Issue/Rationale

Change Orders are initiated by the Contractor, Architect/Engineer or Owner, and may increase or decrease the scope of the project as defined by the plans and specifications.  Change Orders are reviewed by the Architect/Engineer and staff prior to submission to the School Board for approval.  

 

This change order adds 16 additional days to the contractual substantial completion date of April 12, 2010 due to a delay in notice of acceptance of material changing the substantial completion date to April 28, 2010.  Additionally, this change order will charge the contractor liquidated damages for failure to substantially complete the project by the new substantial completion date of April 28, 2010 by 37 days.  Substantial Completion was achieved on June 4, 2010.  In accordance with the specifications, failure to meet the substantial completion date results in liquidated damages of $1,000 a day for every calendar day elapsing between the date fixed for substantial completion and the date substantial completion has actually been achieved.

Recommended Action

Approve the change order.

 



Financial Impact

If approved, this Change Order will decrease the contract amount for liquidated damages of $1,000 per day for 37 days totaling $37,000.00.
